About this Event

(Ur)Sprung | Origin - Junge Bläserphilharmonie NRW | Germany

The Junge Bläserphilharmonie NRW is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a rousing concert programme spanning a variety of styles and eras. With classical works such as Edward Elgar's ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ and contemporary compositions such as Philip Sparke's “Celebration” and Johan de Meij's ‘Extreme Makeover’, the audience will experience a reminiscence of past eras, while at the same time looking ahead to a bright future for symphonic wind music. At the same time, it is also a reminiscence of the journey that this orchestra has been on over the last 40 years. So many talented young musicians have found a musical home in the JBP NRW.

As a highlight of the anniversary phase, the JBP NRW will go on a concert tour to England to present traditional English music. With compositions by William Byrd and Ralph Vaughan Williams, the orchestra will explore the diversity of the English musical landscape, the origin of brass music. This destination was not chosen by chance - England is home of symphonic brass music, an origin of the modern repertoire of this genre. A special place for a select ensemble to reflect on its own roots: When people know where they come from, they can enrich their repertoire with new roots.

In september, another part of the trip will also pass through the Hauts-de-France in France. 80 years after the end of World War II, this decision is intended to help promote international understanding, particularly among young people. At a time when national division is once again on the rise in Europe and populist forces are threatening social cohesion, the project aims to send out a clear signal: Music connects people, music spreads love, music gives many people a home.

By performing different pieces of music from different countries and cultures and by visiting and experiencing them, we strengthen the connection and exchange between people and send a message of harmony and peace. In this way, the appeal of the recently deceased Margot Friedländer - ‘Be human’ - is carried forward in a musical way.

Celebrate with us 40 years of outstanding young artists who build bridges between different nations through music and set an example for a peaceful future.

Join us in celebrating 40 years of conductors, listeners, community and culture.

Celebrate 40 years of symphonic wind music with us and the next chapter of the Junge Bläserphilharmonie NRW!
